2022 EMDOC PGR CONFERENCE: “Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration”

CONFERENCE DETAILS

EMDoc consists of nine universities who are keen to work collaboratively to share best practice, resources and insights into doctoral research across all disciplines. The EMDoc Conference is a great opportunity for you to discuss and promote your research as well as meet and network with other researchers from across the East Midlands.

This year’s conference will be hosted online by the University of Lincoln, and will take place on the 21st September.

In this year’s Conference, you are invited to explore the theme of Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration” through your presentations.

Interdisciplinarity and collaboration are key parts of research and are becoming increasingly important in academic life. Interdisciplinarity is all about making connections between ideas and concepts from different academic disciplines, and applying the knowledge from one discipline to another, different discipline, in order to gain new insights and understanding. These practices allow researchers to overcome over-specialization and to address research questions in exciting ways that create new knowledge and theoretical perspectives. Collaboration between two or more researchers, involving the discussion and exchange of ideas and practices, is often integral to the development of interdisciplinary research. It helps researchers to encounter new methodologies and knowledge and to work more creatively.

We invite you to submit abstracts that address either interdisciplinarity or collaboration in an aspect of your research.

During the Conference, selected doctoral students will give ten-minute live-streamed presentations. The Conference aims to cover a broad range of perspectives on the theme across all disciplines. Submissions for alternative modes (e.g. performance, spoken word, etc.) of presentations are welcome.

During the EMDoc Conference, we will also hold a Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, where the winners of each University will present their research in three minutes.

*The conference is open to all doctoral students currently registered at an East Midlands University: Bishop Grosseteste University, De Montfort University, Loughborough University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Derby, University of Leicester, University of Lincoln, University of Northampton, University of Nottingham.
